Thousand Springs Scenic Byway

Cascading from a cliff wall above the Snake River near Hagerman are numerous springs believed to be the reappearance of the Lost River, which curiously sinks into lava fields near Arco, 90 miles away. The Hagerman Valley is best known for its fish hatcheries, fossil beds and these "thousand springs". Ninety percent of the fresh and frozen trout commercially distributed in the USA are raised in this valley. Highlights along this 68-mile route include the Hagerman Fossil Beds, Malad Gorge, Niagara Springs and famous Shoshone Falls. Services are available in Bliss, Hagerman, Buhl, Kimberly and Twin Falls.
